Sermon List
Date Title Sermons

Revenge fantasies - Psychologists tell us that revenge fantasies can be a healthy way of moderating our feelings of victimhood when we are wronged. Jesus, on the other hand, calls us to a different vision and action. Pastor McCowan spoke on this subject and gave us advice on how to avoid these attitudes and actions that can destroy us. Outline, Bulletin.
Mar. 11, 2017 The Devil's Clickbait - Online advertisers like to lure us by posting sensational, salacious and seductive images and headlines that tempt us to click on them. It’s called “clickbait,” and it's a real distraction from reality. Jesus was tempted with a similar form of clickbait by the devil himself. The way he refused to click on it can teach us a lot about dealing with temptation in our own lives. Outline, Bulletin.
June 10, 2017 Ask Yahweh - Pastor McCowan’s sermon was entitled, “Ask Yahweh.” It is about how a certain prayer request can so please God that He blesses us just for asking it. So why then do we not make this item number one on our prayer list? Outline, Bulletin.
July 10, 2017 Pastor McCowan's sermon was entitled, Going, but not Coming Back! It featured the upcoming mission to Mars by the Dutch organization called Mars One. Interestingly enough, this mission is only a one-way mission. Yet they have thousands of people who want to go. Jesus is looking for a few good people too. Outline, Bulletin.
Aug 12, 2017 A Cup of Cold Water - We Americans don't really care for tepid water. If a waiter brought us a glass of warm water, we'd probably ask him to take it back and replace it with cold water. In this month's sermon, Pastor McCowan stressed the importance of not just water, but "cold" water. His text is taken from Matthew 10:40-42. Outline.
Sep. 9, 2017 Bad Cheese & Wheat - It’s sometimes hard to tell the real from the fake, and in an era of fake news, this is no surprise. Jesus reminds us that discerning the real from the phony is a problem when it’s people we're talking about. It takes an expert! Pastor McCowan's text was taken from Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43. Outline, Bulletin.
Oct. 21, 2017 The Inclining Christian - The Leaning Tower of Pisa just happens to be 3.99 degrees off perpendicular, which is 13 feet off plumb. Several other buildings in the world are off perpendicular as well. So, Pastor McCowan asked the question can Christians be off centered as well and lean to one side or the other. Outline, Bulletin.
Dec. 9, 2017 The title of Pastor McCowan’s sermon was Humble Pie(ty) and used Jesus’ lesson on the Hypocrisies of the Pharisees (Matthew 23:1-12) to illustrate what true humility should look like. Outline, Bulletin.
